Welcome

March 3, 2012 Annual Workshop and Banquet

We’re excited to welcome Steelhead, Salmon and Sturgeon guide April Vokey. Based in the Fraser Valley, BC, it is her mission to encourage and introduce aspiring anglers to our sport, in hopes that it will bring them as much pleasure as it has brought her. http://www.flygal.ca A self-taught angler, April was born with an unexplainable passion for fishing. As a young girl, she was the one who coaxed her father into going fishing and by the age of sixteen, when she was old enough to drive, was devoting all of her free time to her local rivers. She takes pride in being an eternal student of fly-fishing. April spends the majority of her days chasing wild fish, Spey rod in hand. She is passionate about the environment and Atlantic Salmon flies. She will share her tying skills from 1:00-2:30pm and after dinner we’ll learn how to use them as April shares “Swinging Flies for BC Steelhead”. Evening festivities begin at 5:30pm with fun filled raffles and no-host social hour. This year we will serve a Italian buffet meal at 6:30pm. Tickets for the evening meal and program are $40. You are encouraged to bring guests, especially potential new members. Tickets are available at this month’s meeting, Wholesale Sports and Markee Cycle Shop/Fly Shop. All tickets must be purchased by 5pm Feb 29. Tickets WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR! An accurate dinner count assists our costs as the club must pay for any meals ordered but not served. The cash bar will remain open until our speaker’s presentation begins. You may bring your own wine but must pay a $14 corkage fee. Awards and Recognitions follow dinner as well as more drawings. The CBFC Fly Collection drawings will close out the evening. New members take note. This is a fun time for all regardless of fishing level or interest. Raffles (both silent and special purchased tickets) and drawings include fly collections tied by members, trips, outstanding gear, outdoors themed items and a few surprises. A final note, Meadow Springs Country Club dress code does not allow blue jeans. MSCC http://www.meadowspringscc.com

Columbia Basin Fly Casters

The Columbia Basin Fly Casters is an organization dedicated to the sport of fly fishing.  We are interested in developing the sport and preserving the waters and habitat that make fishing possible. The Club was formed by a small group of fly fishers in 1978, and has continued to grow to our present count of over 100 members.  Our membership is comprised of fly fishers, young and old, men and women, experts and beginners, who all have a broad range of interest and backgrounds.
